What makes a woman go head over heels for high-heeled footwear? Is it the handsomeness that high heels add to our strides that make us invariably fall for it, the moment we see a new pair on shelf? Or the enhanced fashion statement? Remember how Miranda Priestly is finicky about them that she makes wearing high-heeled shoes compulsory for every girl in her office! (Hope The Devil wears Prada is still fresh in your memory.)Well whatever this special reason be, I would like to point out, it’s definitely not a smart thing to wear them all the time. Few of us would like to publicly admit about the fatigue incurred by wearing high heels for long hours of the day. But the truth remains, we all experience pain sometime or the other because of our footing on terra firma! Medical studies reveal that, although high heels may make your legs look longer but as the heel height goes up, so does the pressure on foot. A 3-inch heel can increase the pressure on forefoot (while standing and walking) by +76%.
Besides numerous foot ailments like bunions, Morton’s neuroma, hammertoes and calluses are a byproduct of continued use of such fashionable heels. Ladies, this is not all…wearing high heels also affects our spine. I hope these facts do stir a concern in all of those who read this post. For we should not become victims of fashion. After all, health comes first…
