Wireless market has grown by leaps and bounds in the recent past. This sector in particular has seen a ten-fold improvement in sales. According to the research firm Informa the cellular subscription has reached 3.3 billion, which equals half of the worlds total population. This growth has taken place in the last 26 years i.e. from the time cell phones were launched into the market.

Even though the subscription has reached half of the worlds population but it doesn’t imply that half of the people in the world are carrying and using a cell phone. Informa’s report suggested that about 59 countries have more than 100% mobile penetration, which implies that there are users carrying more than one cell phone in their pocket.

According to Newman head of research at Informa this industry has outperformed even the most optimistic forecasts of the subscriber’s growth. The maximum growth has been recorded from India and China.
